Lemon Information for the 2009 Dodge Journey
Resources for filing Lemon Law complaints are available at the Better World Club Lemon Complaints page.
Component: Steering/Handling
Consequence: This vehicle has had multiple issues. It stopped suddenly while driving up a hill for no apparent reason. The car had to be towed to level ground. Also, the vehicle suffers from a consistently bumpy ride and pulls to the right.
Component: Passenger-Side Front Assembly Strut
Consequence: Strut bearing is made of plastic. The passenger-side strut spring twisted and punctured the bearing. Both were replaced. The driver-side front spring has also begun to twist.
Component: Tires/Fuel Gauge
Consequence: Vehicle suddenly started vibrating and pulled to the left while the driver was traveling at roughly 60 mph. The tires were replaced, but this did not fix the problem. The same vehicle also has an inaccurate fuel gauge.
Component: Steering/Handling
Consequence: Vehicle lost power at slow speed and would not restart. The power train control module was replaced at the dealership. Additional grinding and whining noises necessitated the replacement of the power steering pump and rack and pinion. The whining noise continues, albeit intermittently and only while turning left.
Component: Tires
Consequence: One of the tires began to bulge. The driver replaced all four tires.
Component: Automatic Transmission
Consequence: The automatic shifter has been accidentally knocked out of drive and into reverse on several occasions without the break pedal being depressed. [NOTE: Two Journey owners lodged this same complaint.]

I purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey in May of '08. In August I took it in because the check engine light came on. It was a progressive, 6 week fix of O2 sensor, O2 sensor heater, O2 sensor ground wire and finally the power module. All was okay for another 6 weeks, or so. Then, on start-up, car runs but no headlights, tail lights, turn signals, power windows, heater, stereo, wipers. (Dome light and horn work.)

I have a 2009 Dodge Journey and the plastic key only last about 45,000 miles. I went to a Dodge Dealer and they wanted $ 275.00 for a new key and programming it. Whoever was the engineer who designed this "key" is an idiot.I guess Dodge expects you to pay for new key. They only warranty it for 12 months/36,000 miles. No wonder why consumers are buying Toyotas and Hondas.

I purchased a dodge journey in july of '08 and I had awesome acceleration for two months. Then the traction control light came on and it stop accelerating and stalled. I took it in two more times same thing. On the final time they kept it for 4 days. Now it feels stiff and the acceleration is wonky, but they think it is me. Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know if I can use this to declare it a lemon?

On July 31, 2008, I had the misfortune of buying a 2009 Dodge Journey. BIG MISTAKE! It has been nothing but trouble. 10-12 mpg combined city and highway.I now have only 4500 miles on it(July 8, 2009). It has had the power steering repaired, two computers replaced, transmission and differential repaired. At the present time it is at the closest Dodge dealer,22 miles away awaiting a new transmission. All I have to do to gget lemonade is to leave it outside when it is raining. A LEMON???

I drove my journey from Detroit to Stamford ny. All forward gears went out It is now 700 miles fom home awaiting a new transmission. Its been there 2 weeks. It has 4200 miles on it

I purchased a 2009 Journey as well and have had nothing but problems with my local dealer and the main company. If the owner's manual states to change the oil every 6000 miles, why does the oil change light go on after 2500? I took it in and they gave me different stories. They set the light to go off at that time despite what the manufacturer says. The company gave me a BS story about it as well. They are just trying to rip customers off. This is after they sold me a car that had some recalls that were not repaired. When I took it in for the first oil change after 2500 miles there were two "recalls" that were dated Sept and Dec 2008 (I purchased my car in the year 2009). I read them quickly as I was not given a copy, and both stated that the repairs were to be done on sold and unsold vehicles. My car had been on the lot for a few months before purchase and no repairs were done.

I have had the Journey 4 cyl for just over a year now. Very unhappy! I have had a rattle in the front when I run over small bumps or seams in the road. This was noticed within the first month. They couldn't find the noise or cause saying it was probably my seat. I am not an idiot. It still makes noise to the point of passangers asking what it is. Then, theres the rear suspension squatting. I brought it up to their attention and was told it was normal for a front wheel drive. Well, now that my radial is showing thru the inside of my rear tires, they think there is a problem. The angle of the fake chrome work in two spots on the dash blind you at noon sun. Horrible design. The vehicle has shut off a couple times randomly like it was an electrical problem. I have already had to have new brakes and was told that the rotors were spun and cant be done again. When taking off from a stop sign, I get a slip or hesitation like low transmission fluid. Need I go on?

Well, at least yours runs. Ours is going back for the fifth time in two months because every now and again, it just won't start. You turn the key and zilch, nothing, nada. Then, as if the start fairies have come along, you turn the key and it works --- this could take anywhere from 2 to 30 minutes. So, we begin the arbitration that is aimed at leading to some remedy, since we have a one-year-old totally unreliable vehicle. That'll be our last Chrysler, that's for sure.

i purchased a 2009 dodge journey in march of 2009, I now have 5000 miles on it and it has had two recalls, new rotors and the power windows stopped working. But today we were driving it and it would not shift out of first gear, so we got it towed but our luck it is a sunday and the dealer ship isn't opened until tomorrow, well I guess they don't care if you have kids that need to be drove to school and you need to work, so now i have to wait to get a loaner car.

I purchased a 2009 SXT Dodge Journey in April 2009. We have had a problem with having the back windows down to get air in and having the car just shake and howl so much it hurts your ears, andit feels like thecar is just going to fall apart. The dealership said has not heard any other comments about this and has no idea what to do. It also happens when the sunroof is open and the back windows are down, no matter how far down. How can you drive a car and not be able to opn the windows. Anyone else have this problem?
By Anonymous, At December 28, 2009 at 5:20 PM
I also have the 2009 Journey and it's been in the shop more that any of my other vehicles combined! The power steering has gone twice in less than a month, the tire pressure light kept coming on and I was told that it was the ambient air pressure of the North causing the problem. I didn't know that changing air pressure could make your tire go comletly flat every couple days!!! I've also had the battery replaced, and the stereo replaced twice...and it's still not working!

I had my 2009 Journey shut down and lose all power while driving two times. Once was on residential road and once on freeway. Anybody else have this issue?
By Anonymous, At January 8, 2010 at 9:09 PM
I bought my 2009 Journey in October 2009. Since then it's been at the dealership 4 times for a vibration noise (like blowing in a bottle)when I go up a hill or slowly accelerate. First time I took it in they replaced the power steering pump, 2nd time the power steering reseavor (not sure spelled right), still same noise...3rd time I had the mechanic ride with me and he heard the noise. After the 4th time of taking it in they had no clue what to do. At this point they had a Chrysler rep come from out of state. So I'm thinking ok well maybe we will get somewhere after that, nope! This woman came to Lakeland on Jan 11 and I have not heard from her yet! I have not even mentioned the other minor things I've taken it in for. These people have not offered me anything! I will never purchase a Chrysler product again! I am just suppose to accept the noise on a brand new vehicle! I am in the process of the Lemon Law procedure, it stinks because it fit my family perfectly. What a shame to not try and make the customer happy. Has anyone else had this issue with a whisle noise or viration noise?
By Anonymous, At January 21, 2010 at 4:54 PM
I have purchased a 2009 Journey in June 2008, the first month, I had problems with the windows making noises, but other than that, the car runs good, I have 35,500 miles on that car.

I purchased a 2009 SXT in October 2008. I absolutely love the cars looks & features........BUT I have had several problems with it.
1st was the heat/AC....the dual climate control is great, but when one passenger is HOT & the other is cold, then you should be able to adjust accordingly. NO........ Took it in & said that the hoses were not hooked up correctly. OK I understand, it didn't cost me anything but my time as it was under warranty.
2nd is the radio on the backup camera model. It will lock up the volume & almost like it is froze up like a computer. It will just "fix" itself so I have never had it checked.
3rd was a few times the dash lights came on & flashed; as if when you were just starting it up but I was driving when this happened.
4th and MAJOR one! I came out of work today with power steering fluid all over the ground under the car. This, I might add, is the 2nd time in less than a month. The first time I took it in to get fixed, I was told that the hose was broke & they had to order a new one. Well, when they went to order it they said there was a new designed one because apparently the old one had a flaw, so to speak. They got it in, said it was fixed, and I went on my way. Today, about 2 weeks later, I called the dealership to let them know & I was told this: mine is the 3rd Journey that they have had to replace the hose on, and the reason was because of the cold weather (I live in North Dakota) caused the hose to break because of the added pressure of hydraulics.
So, I hate to say the Journey is a LEMON, but it is just giving me hell. It has 17k on it.

2009 Journey SXT - brakes and rotors outafter 16 months! And I see from this blog and other review sites that others are having the same problem. I guess I should be happy that I got 28000 miles on it before having to replace rotors! Some folks are only getting 5,000; 11,000; 17,000; 23,000 miles... really - for a brand new car?
By The Kiddos, At February 17, 2010 at 6:26 PM
I purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey in August 2009. At 10,000 miles the master brake cylinder had to be replaced. Two months later The brake pedal became "soft" again. My dealership where I purchased it from advised me to have it towed in and not to drive it. They gave me the roadside assistance # and they would only cover the first 17 miles to the closest dealership from my workplace. I called the dealership and asked if they would pay the difference in the mileage for the towing they said NO. So the other dealership had to "fix" it and they had my car for 24 hrs and said it was fixed told me there was air in the brake line from when they replaced the master brake cylinder two months earlier (liars). One week later the brake pedal is soft again. The dealership said it was an unsafe car and I wasn't getting back into it so they gave me another rental. In the meantime as I am still in my rental Chrysler has offered to buy back the car and do a collateral swap for a new one. After three weeks of hassle with the dealership, ISG, calling the CEO of Chrysler to waive the "mileage fee" they were trying charge me, losing time from work, worrying, not able to sleep...I still have my rental because Capitol One Finance doesn't do collateral swaps (I even emailed the CEO of Capital One). I will NEVER buy a Dodge vehicle EVER again much less use Capitol One Auto Finance!!!!! Worse case scenario....I have to take back my 2009 Dodge Journey that the dealership has supposedly been fixed (the booster was leaking - so they tell me). EXTREMELY UNHAPPY!!!!!

I have had 2 accidents with this car. One I turned short and did not see a stop sign on my left. The blind spot is unbearable in this vehicle. The tire hit the stop sign, actually climbed up the pole and flipped over on the right side. I was doing app 10 mph. The second accident, the brakes failed and I hit a car in the rear and it hit the car in front of it. It happened so fast I could not believe it. I am taking the hickey on the new car and trading it when it gets repaired. I am scared of this car and for anyone that has the misfortune to buy this car. I have 11k miles on it and it is a 6cyl.

I purchased a Dodge Journey less than two years ago.It has only 10,000 miles on it,and i already need a full set of rear and front breaks. My interior fabric is a stain magnet, and so far my air conditioner needs to be replaced,Along w/ many other imperfections!!! So sad that car makers would actually allow this product on the market.I feel like a fool.

You left me scared with all those Dodge Journey 2009 problems. I haven't had one yet, but I know for a fact that Dodge dealer doesn't care about customers. I bought a preoned 2009 one with 30k miles on it, with a broken antenna, but you will not believe that even with a paper signed by the dealer stating that they will replace it, they had me wait about 3 hours, debating wether they should replace it or not! they finaly managed to glue the broken base and put on a new antenna stick on it! It works but for how long? Now, the Key story: the dealer was supposed to give me a second key, which they believed was being delivered by the previous owner, the key never came. They now want me to pay $169 for the new key and $109 to program it! Right! Dodge should have the least customer care rating possible.

I purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey in May of 2009, it has not been a year yet, my brakes and rotors need to be replaced. What is going on, this is not normal wear and tare on a car. I have researched and several thousand people with the same complaint, rotors are completely damaged I have 21,000 miles on my car. I also have a 2000 Toyota Corolla and only had to replace my brakes twice in the cars history and I have almost 200,000 miles. So it seems like every 15,000-20,000 brakes and rotors have to be replaced. Something needs to be done about this.

I read every single comment, and my 2009 Dodge Journey has the same exact crazy problems as all of the other stuff. LETS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! I still have a 14K+ loan on it and do not want to pay on a car that sits in the shop 2 out of 4 weeks! It's not fair. MY 2003 saturn was 10000x better than this piece!!! I say lets all email each other and file a class action suit. Get a new car and by lord let it not be a dodge-NEVER AGAIN! Email me if you want to start a process of getting our money and/or a new car back!

I purchase my Journey new in May of 2009. All was well until 2 months ago when we notice fluid in the driveway. Took it in and the PTU seal was leaking. They replaced the seals and 2 3 weeks late the PTU completely blew and left me and my 6 year old stranded on the side of the road. Had it towed to the dealership and they replaced the PTU until. Been in the shop 4 more times since then, the lastest being twice in the past week. Now they are replacing my transmission, intermediate shaft and now my entire driveshaft (which is backordered for a week). They've pulled a used car off their lot for me to drive in the meantime. I've called Chrysler and was assured a Case Manager would contact me by 5pm today...it's now 3:45. I want a buyback. I dont trust this car and don't want it anymore, but I got the loaded R/T and still over 28K. My husband has also replaced the brakes three time so far and now my rotors are warped. Tell me what to do and who to contact and I will...I'm furious.

We purchased a 2010 Journey two months ago. Going 65 mph the vehicle was set on cruise control, the vehicle started making a very load racing noise then shifted down. I have not used the cruise since as too scared it will do it again. Today I was pulling out of a parking lot and lost full power. Could not steer and headed across two lanes to have a tractor trailer drive blow his horn uncontrollably at me. I immediately tried to start the car again and it work and I hurried to get the vehicle moving. I have placed a call to the dealership and waiting for someone to call back. When will these issues be fixed when a numerous amount of people get killed? Come on!!!!

as i'm sitting here reading all these post i wasn't sure if i was the only person experiencing all these problems.i paid 34k plus 2k for the lifetime warranty for my 2009 dodge journey r/t on may 15 2008. i expereince everything that was mention from the hdd freezing up to water mysteriously appearing in my floor coolers, brakes and rotors.but my most recent incident was last night. just travel from chicago to minnesota my journey jerked very hard on the highway as i'm driving to the nearest exit it sounded like my truck was about to fall apart . i didn't hit anything nor run over thing. stranded with my husband and 4 kids waiting 4 a tow truck on memorial day took a hour. ok so now my truck is at the dealer for the umpteen time and they tell me my ptu is leaking and my back drive shaft is cracked and missing a big piece of metal. i really love my journey and hate to get rid of it but i'm starting to question the safety of this vehicle. oh did i mention i'm only at 21750 miles.someone please tell me how to get a buy back or something because i need a more reliable and safer vehicle.

The front rims on my 2009 Dodge Journey get totally black from brake dust which is hard to get off. I know that some brake dust is normal but this seems excessive and it seems like the rims are too porous so they don't clean up very good. Does anyone else see this problem or do I just have bad rims or brake problems? The brakes work fine so far but then again I only have 13,000 miles on it.

I had the same frustrations with my 2009 Dodge Journey. I finally did some research on the Lemon Law and contacted Weisberg & Meyers LLC, Attorneys for Consumers at 888-595-9111 and they took my case. I settled with Chrysler, but it was such a win for me. I honestly don't think I settled at all, rather I won! And the biggest thing of all I did not have to pay anything out of my pocket. I am more than happy, so there is hope. Now every case is different, but I would highly recommend anyone that is willing for a little fight against Chrysler to contact Weisbery & Meyers.

I have a 2009 Dodge Journey. In the winter I get a cm of frost on the inside of the windshield. I've had all the brakes replaced $1200.00 later, and it is finicky about starting. You turn the key and if it's a a lucky day it'll start, but if you are in a rush or have an important meeting, it won't start. All the dash lights are working, so is the radio and windows, but it just won't turn on. The engine clicks but no turn-over. The dealer says ($300 later) that it doesn't happen at the dealer, so they are not sure what the problem is!? THANKS!! Unreliable, bad milliage! anyone else had this? and you know if i put it up for sale it won't start when someone comes to test drive!! I want my money back! I want my 2000 Dodge Ram back!!

I purchased my 2009 Dodge Journey in December. I traded in my 04 Kia because I needed a reliable vehicle since my son is autistic and I have to therepy and doctors alot. This was a terrible mistake it turns out. With 40,000 miles on it I just had to have the engine replaced, that cost me 3400.00, warranty had expired so that was out of pocket. Now, a month after getting my car back with a new engine, the air conditioner has stopped working, I don't have the money to fix that just yet since I just spent all the money getting a new engine. I've never had a vehicle go through gas like this one does, and someone mentioned the problem with this vehicle being a stain magnet, I couldn't agree with them more. The vehicle constantly vibrates, gets knocked out of gear easily (happened to me twice on the highway). When I talk to the dealership about it they said I was just screwed and sorry (not exaggerating). Never again will I buy a dodge, I actually want my old Kia back, atleast I never had problems like this.

i Purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey in July of 2008. I too have been through brakes and rotors at only 11,ooo miles. I recently was in an accident with it in a parking lot the lady hit me goimg about 15 miles per hour, nothing major, but what scared me is the damage done to the vehicle it pretty much buckeled the whole front end and lots of things in the engine compartment. It scares me to think what a more severe accident would do. The car was fixed and now im having trouble with my transmission jerking into gear and not engeaging right it goes in tomorrow. It has also been stalling on me when im in reverse. Not to happy with the quality of this car.

I have a 2009 Dodge Journey. It has the starting issue that others have talked about. Turn the key and nothing happens. Try it the next day and it start. I've had it to the dealer but It does not happen for them so they cant fix it. I'm very disappointed.

I purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey in November, 2009 brand new. I noticed that when my daughter put her back window down the noise was unbearable. I thought something was wrong with the car. I've never had to experience this with any other vehicle before. Just recently my car stalled on me, took it in to the local dealership where purchased. They replaced the battery. They also took care of some recalls which I never received paperwork on. I have a tail light out. I have noticed my vehicle running hard on the highway, the ride is not smooth as it was when first purchased. Now my back left passenger window will not go back up. So here we go into the shop again. Like I have the time to be taking my car in to the shop every couple months. I love my car, I just cannot believe I paid over $30,000 for a vehicle that has had so many problems. I am ready to just let my car go. FRUSTRATED IN COLORADO!

Just bought my first chrysler. LOL. What a joke two weeks after buying it, steering starts shaking, dealership said it was all in my head. After three times of bringing it in, and three feeble attempts to fix it. It starts the first attempt, most of the time. Squeeks, rattles, and shakes. Good job chrysler, oh and thanks for the help.

I purchased a 2009 Journey SXT in March 2009. What a joke! The air went out and it took 6 attempts to fix that. I cant roll the windows down b/c of the pulsing/ vibrations that make my head feel like it is about to explode. The radio goes out/ the car doesn't always start/ using cruise is a joke and it kind of locks up and starts jerking/ my sun visor broke, my rear view mirror broke, needed to replace the wheel well (?), paint is peeling off my outside mirrors, the sunroof is leaking, and my car shakes horribly when braking. Would not recommend this car!

I purchased my 2009,dodge journey in Oct 2009 with only 6 miles on it. Within 6 months, I was on a first name basis with my service department. I have had it towed 3 times, had to replace brakes, tires, had a new engine put in, had electric door locks fixed, had 4 radios installed& it still locks up, had starter repaired, had new mirrors installed because paint was peeling off, and that was all in the 1st 38,000 miles! I had to call Dodge to get some of the repairs done under "goodwill" because I was of warranty. I had to pay a $200 deductible. I paid $27000 for the vehicle now 26 mo later I'm only being offered $9300 on trade less than what I owe. Last American car I will purchase!!
By Anonymous, At November 26, 2010 at 8:52 PM
I also purchased a Dodge Journey 2009 and have been experiencing the same brake and rotor issues. This concerns me as brakes and rotors are not cheap. My windshield and sun roof had to be resealed as water leaked all down the main console and the columns. The radio/dvd player in the car is now on it's 3rd one. The touch screen stops working or it over heats on long trips after just 3hrs of use and continuously reboots itself. You cant even shut it off. I love my Journey but I think it's time to move on to another make and it wont be a Dodge.

wow. im so nervous now. I just purchased a 2009 journey. I have had it now for about 3 months, and so far I have had my cd player display a mech comm error, and today in the 18 degree weather with my four children 8, 7, 6, and 11months my car would not start. Tried to get a jump and it still did not work, so ended up having it towed to a dealer. I feel like this is te begining of alot of problems, not to mention we are leaving to go to florida in four days and we were planing to drive, i do think we will now sounds dangerous.

I bought my dodge journey in 2009. we have replaced the calipers because they locked up. Then the windows stopped working, and the media center stopped playing dvds. Now the check engine light is on and the battery randomly died. It has been to the dealer ship more than anywhere else.

I purchased my Dodge Journey September 2008. I figured with gas going up I would get the 2.4L 4-cylinder. My previous car was a Saturn Vue 4 cylinder and it had a lot of power and good gas mileage. I should of kept the VUE. My Journey has hardly any power and terrible gas mileage. I currently have 65,000 miles, and have replaced rotors and pads twice and a few weeks ago both rear brake calipers completely went out and I lost almost all braking power while on the interstate. It has been in for all kinds of minor recalls and defects to many to list or remember here. The front passenger window barely goes up. Tie-rods replaced. And the reason I am here today of course is my check engine light just came on!!!! But to look on the brighter side of things I use to get free 5 hour oil changes and always got talked into something that wasn't free. Also, does anyone get the surge of power when coming to a stop? It would be nice to convert this power to when coming out of a stop. Just asking----Scared in Ohio!

omg i also have a 2009 dodge journey that i purchased in may 2008, at this point i have had to replace brake pads and rotors at least 5x and the backs brake pads and rotors once. This car has had 3recalls mostly wiring issues, and now since 12/30/10 I have had nothing but problems, the freeze out plugs went in the radiator? which from im told should never happen especially on a newer vehicle , and that took 11 fkn days to repair as chrysler did not have parts in stock? are you kidding me so therefore had to rent a car which i fought chrysler and got them to finally reimburse me for half but still cost me $ 200.. then 1st week of february had to replace all 4 tires even though only needed 2 as the tires that came with the car are obsolete? wtf so not bad enought each tire cost $225 each because of the "odd" size from what im told i had to buy 4 so they would all match and not cause an imbalance inm the car and as i was getting the tires, i was told i needed rear struts? so another $600 dollars and yes needed front brake pads too.... fixed that only in order for two week later to be told my rear drive shaft was falling out ? as I took in after the engine felt like it was falling out of the car literally so got the 3 out of 4 bolts put back so my draft shaft didnt fall out and the car flips over.... really that dont happen again in a newer car.... so now thats fixed and now today the car wont start! Seems like the starter as tried to jump it and nothing all i get is "click" but have lights radio horn etc... so here i am again having to get this pos fixed so i can use it and do normal everyday stuff including work.... and to make things worse of course road side assistance expired after 36k miles ... and fyi the battery is located under the rear fender what a stupid place to put it or on the other hand smart for chrysler as cant get to for a normal individual as either is the transmission reservior to check fluid as that can only be done by a mechanic? sounds like a big scam on chryslers part as recently i bought my car to the dealer for a recall issue and asked them to check the transmission fluid as it was there anyway and they charge me 1/2 hour labor wtf....can you say scam ill never buy a dodge again and i am contacting a lawyer for consumers as i seen a posting on here in which someone had success ... hopefully i will too

Listen folks, purchase a 2009 Dodge Journey at your own risk. These vehicles are notorious for stranding owners in a NO START / CRANK INOP condition where you have to get it towed for repair. The dealer will change the WIN (wireless ignition node) module, maybe a relay or the starter, and send you off, only for you to be stranded again! When will Dodge issue a recall to finally properly fix these defect ridden lemons?
By Anonymous, At May 25, 2011 at 5:52 PM
2009 Dodge Journey...will not start. All the lights work, power windows work, radio, air all work. Turn the key and nothing. no clicking, no attempts to start. I have heard people have a bunch of things replaced and still having the same issues. DODGE STOP THE MADNESS AND ISSUE A RECALL.
By I'd rather be driving a Chevy, At June 6, 2011 at 12:51 PM
So I bought mine, 09 SXT with all the bells and whistles and it has been great. I have had a couple recalls but thats it. I have never owned a vehicle that has not had any recalls so that is expected. Not sure on the complaints with the brakes, I drive my vehicle hard so heavy braking is implied. I made it almost 32000 miles before replacing the brakes. The car now has 52000 miles on it and still runs like a champ.
My only complaint is the stupid 225x55 R19 tires. They are impossible to find and only Kuhmo makes them and they are always backordered. Who ever decided to OEM special sized tire for a vehicle is an absolute idiot! A quick fix for this is simply go up one size to 235x55 R19. They work fine and if you have a blow out you will not be riding on a spare for 2-6 weeks waiting on tires.

I have a 2009 Dodge Journey that I purchased in April 2008. I have had the brakes replaced twice, I had to order 4 new tires because the Kuhmos were on backorder FOREVER, My car alarm would go off for no reason but the key fob would not turn it off, I had to have some module thing replaced because my car went dead with the windows down in the Winter (No I did not put them down some how when you clicked the stupid key fob the front windows went down some) oh speaking of key fob, It has to be replaced, My radio/dvd player has been replaced and still does not work correctly, the visor mirror covers have both popped off and now the lights around the mirror do not work, the usb....oh the usb, Ill just skip that it may make me swear, the doors are not kid friendly bc if you dont push them open all the way they dont stay open and they swing back closed. My transmission is going I mean I could go on and on. I received a letter from an attorney about a class action but I could not be included because I did not take it in at least 3 times prior to my warranty expiring. Such crap. I have 5 kids a husband and a life. I dont have time to keep running my car to the dealership for them to keep it FOREVER!

We purchased our journey in june 2008.. we were so excited b/c it seemed to be perfect. Well, we needed new tires after 20,000 miles. New brakes twice. I have never needed to put brakes on a car that soon. Pain chips all over the place. Interior plastic pieces falling off and carpet coming up.Now we have a transmission leak and need to get this fixed. There have been so many times we had to bring the car into the dealership and we would get the runaround. Now we only bring the car in for recalls. The car is a lemon in our eyes.

I've had my 2009 Journey SXT since June 2009. Although I love the car and the room I'm disappointed that I've been at the dealership 2 times in the last two weeks and a total of 5 times since May. My problem is that the car won't start. The longest it's taken to get it started is one hour. I woud just be patient and wait and eventually it would start. They have replace battery, recharged the battery and when I explain that it only clicks the service guys ask are you sure it didn't make any noise. Unfortunately this is intermittent so it does not always occur when the car is on the rack. I may be stuck with this car for a while since it's upside down.

Just for 24,000 miles the transmission is totally damaged. We were in LA for family trip from San Jose and now my work and my family trip got affected. I am surprised how low is the quality of this american SUV. We have purchased the R/T fully loaded for family convinience but the expectation is extremely different. I will not buy dodge anymore.

Well after reading every post I am convinced I was right I finely got Pooped on by dodge for being a faithfull customer for 13 years. also have the dodge journey 2009 R/T and I am actualy thankfull I have 90,000 milse on mine but not without every problem you have posted and a few more. but haveing traded in early a dodge caliber greast car only bad transmission I now have bought the journey repair manual on CD cause I cannot trust the dealer nopt at all. every time more money and no fix. two engine tuning sensors wiring in tyhe window no morning starts several rotor and break replacements. I was looking around the internet to try to get lemon law replacement. but am worried milage is also too high but by ther way lifetime warrenty expires at 65,000 miles guess that is what dodge calls life time. any way you cannot go to a dealer with out them trying to sell you stuff you do not need or want. I am 62 yr s old and wanted to not work on my own car again but I got the disk cause I will be able to fix my own problems much faster and more honestly then any dealer. I live 78 miles from the neares dealer. and I will tell you I will not go to another one I actualy might loose my temper and end in jail this is just crazy but I have been shareing with evey one I can so dodge will finaly not be too big to fail. car sucks and every one who bought one deserbves a new car of choice with this one paid in full but dodge. now how do you like that for a fair solution to a grave injustice.

Wow I should of read the reviews before I just purchased my 09 dodge journey I just got it on Friday It does seem like the wheel is hard to turn and I have this (! ) on my dash does anyone know what that is?
By Anonymous, At September 12, 2011 at 8:24 PM
It probably means you have low tire pressure.
My Journey seems fine, but I am careful with it. Last week my dealer told me that my rotors were bad. The rotors have uneven wear. Waiting for the call-action suit to finish so that it will get done on a 'recall'. Replaced all pads myself for $102 vs $600 by the dealer (only one pad was bad, by the way).
I purchased an extended Warranty by paying over 5K. I get free $6 buck oil and the filter. All else is 'not covered' by the warranty. I wonder what will happen if I stop paying the Finance :)
I like the quiet ride, seems a decent vehicle, but dealers, I believe, are the problem, either they don't care or they don't know the job.
The rotor wear is funny. I have never seen such rotor wear even after running one of my cars on worn out pads. Awaiting the recall or it would be a sad day for such a nice vehicle idea.

CpiI have had my 09 Dodge Journey in the shop 3 to 4 times for the no start deal. They said it was corroded ignition module about the 5th trip to the dealer. I have had it towed once for the transmission light coming on and and it won't shift out of first gear they fixed that saYing it was a computer problem. Now we are doing 70 down a highway with our two children and all the sudden I felt like. I was going tghrough the windshield the tranny agai. It still drove and we made it where we were going and overnite left it sit. The light went off so we headed home(an hour and a half away) going 50 to be careful and same darn thing. So now if we turn it off and on the light still is on but it will shift for a little bit and do the same. Called the dealership today but they have no rental.....I do have kidsand a job.....I am sick of this car!!! I too have went through the car not starting that lasted forever before the dealer figured it out!!!! This is my LAST chrysler!!!! I just turned 32000 miles on it and have 3 years on my loan...grrrr there has to be an out!!!! Help!!!!

PURCHASED MY JOURNEY IN JUNE 2009. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. IT HAS HAD 3 SETS OF BRAKES, IT HAS THIS TERRIBLE WINDSHIELD NOISE THAT CAN'T BE FIXED. HAD TO REPLACE COIL ON SYLINDER TWICE. NOW THE LATEST IS A SHAKING WHENEVER YOU COME TO A STOP OR PUT IN REVERSE AND NOW THE BRAKES ARE RUBBING AGAIN. THE PAINT ON THE MIRRORS IS FLAKING OFF. NEVER SEEN THAT ON A 2 YEAR OLD CAR. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT.
By Anonymous, At October 28, 2011 at 2:01 PM
I purchased my Journey last year, used '09 with 29K miles. IMMEDIATELY, within the first week of driving it i noticed if i stop short or too abruptly, the car will cut off. I have to put it in park and turn it on again to drive before cars start honking at me. Secondly, Id say once every 3 months thr first gear gets "skipped". As i start driving i hear the car reving like a manual drive that needs to be shifted to the next gear. Somehow it gets stuck in 2nd. I have to find a safe place to stop on the side of the road, or wait for a stoplight to cut the car completely off and on again. It works fine after that. Third, KUHMO SUCKS!! This trucks tires are a 19" rim. I blew a flat and needed a new tire, and it took WEEKS to find one because Kuhmo is the only brand that make a 19" tire. Some used tire places thought i was lying when i told them the size until they put the truck in their system. Oh, $200 a tire. Fourth, i replaced MY OWN BRAKES after the dealer said it would be $500 for rear brakes!! I paid $200 total for front AND rear brakes from Autozone and put them on myself. Lastly, I am writing today because my front windows just lost power. I can roll the backs down fine and the front passenger can roll theirs down, but the master controls no longer work for the front windows. Not sure how much this will be, but we'll see!! Overall, worse car i ever bought in my LIFE, and i cant wait to get rid of this s*it!!!!
By J.D., At December 11, 2011 at 8:25 PM
Having the same problems. My 2009 Journey had brake problems at 12,400 miles. Replaced brakes twice since and had the rear rotors done as well. Today I had to take it in for a 4th time and now they say I need new brakes again both front and rear and my struts are leaking as well. Is there a recall for the struts?
By Anonymous, At January 17, 2012 at 8:31 PM
I also own a 2009 Dodge Journey piece of junk. It is a 4 cylinder and I understand that 4 cylinders have less power, but OMG, this car will barely take off. A golf cart has better get up and go. Replaced brakes 3 times. First time was before 17,000 miles, 2nd and 3rd was before 40,000 miles. Passenger side window will not go down at all anymore. Brake dust on hub caps keeps the hubs and tires completely covered in black oily dust. Tire stems on all 4 tires bad, one blew out on the way home from the dealer the day I purchased the car. Another blew in my drive about two weeks after I had purchased vehicle. When slowing car down, it shakes very badly. The steering wheels shakes out of control and you really have to hold onto it to keep from losing control of car.

Not only did I purchase this car but got suckered into purchasing extended warranty...but don't cover much from what I understand..2 weeks after buying car my radio/backup camera just quit..dealership wants 100.00 to just look at it and cannot guarantee how long they will have my car or if they can fix it.. supposably fixed from recall.. (LIARS)))) back brakes locked up and black stinky smoke everywhere.from end has bad shake now..shifts hard at times..not all the time just some times..transmission fluid fine..again dealership won't work with me.. don't get it at all.. very frustrated owner..wish I'd never bought this vehicle

I bought my 2009 Dodge Journey SXT in Feb 2009. It has been in the shop for numerous problems. First brakes and rotors at less than 10,000 miles. Then wiring harness recall. Then leaking seals in the transmission. Then engine problem that leaves the vehicle almost powerless (not fixed yet due to not knowing what the problem is) Just got it back today from having seals in the tranny for the second time. Oh yeah now my tires need to be replaced with 20,000 miles. Yes I have the 19" tires. Can you say cha-ching? Will never buy Chrystler again!!!!!

I should have read this before I bought my 2012 Dodge journey. I have had it less than a year. already I have a terrible rattling noise when idling. It is very irritating and embarrassing with passengers on board. I took it to the dealership for oil change , and I asked them to listen to it. The guy said he heard it, and that was not normal. Now they call me back and say their mechanic says that it is normal for the journey. I do not believe that. something is wrong under there, and I am afraid to drive it, because it is getting worse.
also once I opened the car door, I and laid my purse in the seat. shut the door, and went to put package in back ,and it locked. It is not suppose to do that. I called Dodge and they were absolutely no help at all. I finally had to call
all my husband to come with extra key to unlock it. I was 35 miles away.
It also has began to ride bumpy , as if I have a knot on my tire, which I have checked out , and do not. I am at this point discusted with them.

I bought a 2009 Dodge Journey in September 2012 with 40,000 miles on it. It has been nothing but problems since October 2012. It has needed a new transmission and transfer case. the transmission was easy enough to get but I was 90th in line for a transfer case and 300 in the line for a Dodge part. Aside from the expense, and believe me it was costly, the wait time was up to 6 months for the transfer case. I finally found a used one online...in Canada. Then came to hassle of getting it into the U.S. The dealership where it was purchased basically said they would offer no help (warranty was up) and Capital One was no better. I've had it back for 3 months and the seal for the all wheel drive are leaking, which I just had repaired last week and the one key no longer works. This is the worst car I have ever owned and I will never again deal with capital one!

I bought my POS Dodge Journey in April of 08 biggest mistake of my life! I should have known better than to buy any Chrysler product since my first car was a sea-bring and would leave me stranded all over town due to wiring issues no one could repair. This car has been nothing but trouble since i bought it and is currently racking up an auto repair bill where its been sitting for a week being worked on only to cause more issues. I have replaced the breaks tires and roters far more than i should have had to, the radiator now its got a blown head gasket so they also replaced the timing belt while they have the engine apart. On the test drive to see if everything was repaired some hose blew off the back of the motor costing $186 just for the part. I kept the car for the life time power train warranty only for them to tell me its void. F U Chrysler/Dodge! I know you clearly will fool other but you lost this customer for life, I wouldn't take a Chrysler product if someone paid me to take it.

Don't plan any long trips in this engineering, manufacturing, and servicing disaster...the worse vehicle I have ever owned!...THE ABSOLUTE PITS
Heater Hose Array...$450 to replace...split at the plastic "Y"
PTUs(Power Transfer Unit)...this is the third one in 60,000 miles
Brakes: every fifteen thousand miles...start to vibrate withing 5000 miles...shaking steering wheel...scary and unsafe at any speed
Wire Looms: Failed and replaced...left door side and right door side...steering column wiring short circuited and shut the vehicle down..took the dealership three trips to figure this one out
Starting: When the Journey feels like it
Automatic Up and Down Driver's Side Window: When it feels like it
Suspension: All over the place
Tires: Original tires wore out in less than 30,000 miles...very expensive and limited to three manufacturers...originally only one company made the 19" tires
Tune-ups: Incredibly expensive because the manifold and various components have to be removed to replace the spark plugs
Transmission: Hesitates.....slips in the turns...downshifts after accelerating...very strange
Oil Changes: Every three thousand miles...because the engine burns a pint to a quart in that period
Sunroof: Poor weather sealing...when it rains it leaks
Radio: Sometimes locked onto one station...cannot change stations
Driver's Seat: Uncomfortable at best...tends to sag after a period of time
Leather Seating: Stain magnet...
Resale Value: Next to nothing...Mechanical and financial disaster...

IF ANYONE WANTS TO START A LAWSUIT AGAINST DODGE - I AM ALL IN! I have owned this car for 2 years and have changed the BRAKES/ROTORS/CALIPERS 3X, and they need to be changed again! This car also has an INTERMITTENT START. I received in August 2014 a Recall notice from Dodge regarding the "ON" position in the ignition but in the recall notice it states "THEY HAVE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX AND WILL CONTACT US WHEN THEY ARE AVAILABLE". Well its nearly 3 months later and still haven't heard from DODGE on this issue - so the fact that my car still intermittently starts, DODGE COULD CARELSS! Today, the ESP traction light came on! In the first 4 months of owning this car, the thermostat and anti-freeze tank went out and had to be changed! THIS IS A LEMON AND DODGE KNOWS IT! ITS A SHAME THAT NOONE WILL LISTEN TO US! I URGE YOU TO GOOGLE ALL THE COMPLAINTS OF THE 2009 DODGE JOURNEY...........IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND................YET WE CAN'T GET A LAWSUIT GOING!? I HOPE I CAN TRADE MY CAR SOON AND I PROMISE YOU I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OR PURCHASE FROM DODGE/CHRYSLER EVER AGAIN! I REPEAT...........DO YOUR HOMEWORK...........THIS CAR IS A LEMON!

The last comment on this thread was in 2014, I have read everyone and have experienced EVERY issue with my 2009 Journey! I purchased used in 2011. This car has been a headache from day one, recently the transfer case blew up! It is parked once again! I am commenting in hopes that someone can point me in the right direction to get some help! Ive been told that my vehicle isn't included in any of the recalls even though I have experienced all of these issues from the minor to the major! Please I am a single mother and don't have any idea how to go about fighting this?! At this point after reading all the comments I am concerned that my Journey may have been previously own by one of you... Someone please help!!!

To log in to a Wavlink router, connect to the router's Wi-Fi network or use an Ethernet cable to access the router's web interface. Open a web browser, enter the router's default IP address (usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.10.1), and then enter the default login credentials (often "admin" for both username and password) to access the router's settings and configuration options. Be sure to change the default password for security.
